Sundarijal Places to Visit

Sundarijal Waterfall is located 17km northeast of Kathmandu; it is also called “beautiful water”. It is especially famous for local travelers to hike, swim, picnic, and bike. After a few hours of hike, you can see amazing views of Kathmandu valley and the beautiful Tamang village of Mulkharka. It also supplies Kathmandu with water and electricity through the Sundarijal Hydroelectric Power Station.

It’s the gateway to the Shivapuri National Park and the famous Kathmandu Valley Trekking. The journey to Chisapani starts from Sundarijal, about a 5-6 hour hike; this area is famous for cycling and trekking trails for local and foreign tourists. It takes 4-5 hours to ride from bike cycling. During Chisapani cycling, we can see the hidden valley and snow-capped mountains. 

Chisapani is where you can hike and trek to a different locations. For example, there is a hiking route to Nagarkot and a trekking trail to Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda. 

How to get to Sundarijal from Kathmandu

The way to get to Sundarijal is to rent a car or taxi, or it is also reachable by local bus. You might also be able to get a cab, but most likely, the cost is higher than expected. 

It is reachable from Boudhanath and Pashupatinath, a nearby ring road. You can take a microbus to Jorpati and transfer to another bus to the destination.

Trek from Chisapani to Gosaikunda is hard and enjoyable. The trek starts from Sundarijal and ends at Dhunche. The final destination of the trek is Gosaikunda Lake, where you will find other lakes such as Bhairabkunda, Suryakunda, Naghkunda, Saraswatikunda, etc. In addition, you will see the spectacular view of the Langtang range, which passes through various landscapes and green forests.
