Kori Trek is one of the newly opened treks in the Annapurna Region side of Lamjung Himal. It offers stunning views of the Himalayas like Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal and Macchhapuchhre. The trek is located 27km to the northeast of Pokhara at an elevation of 3880m.
This trek is visited by lesson number of people and is unexplored. It also provides an opportunity to experience Gurung culture and tradition. On the way to Kori, you can also visit Kapuche Glacier Lake for a day trip which is one of the lowest glacier lakes in the world at an elevation of 2546m.
You can also, make a route to Kapuche Glacier Lake from Sikles. You can also visit Nyamla Pass from the Kori trek which takes you to Manang which is also one popular trekking destination in Nepal and do the Annapurna Circuit Trek.

Kori Trek difficulty
The difficulty level of this trek is moderate. This trek is also known as jungle hike, you will be hiking through the jungle. The average level of fitness is essential for the completion of this trek.
Permit for Kori Trek
- For Foreigners, Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) cost $30 which is around NPR 3,000.
- The Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) cost NPR 200 for the SAARC country
- Permits for Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) cost $10 more than NPR 1000.
Best time for Kori Trek
The best season for Kori Trek is September to November and March to May when the weather will be clear. During this season the skies will be clear and offer amazing views of the Himalayas. This trek is not recommended during monsoon season due to slippery roads which can be dangerous and the high risk of landslide.
Accommodation
It depends on your itinerary, you will get great accommodation at Sikles tea house, guest house, and lodges. You will find accommodation till Kapuche Lake and after crossing the lake heading towards Kori you will be camping along your way. There are no tea houses or shops available after you start your trek toward Kori.
Kori Trek itinerary
Day 1. Kathmandu to Pokhara (1400m)
Early in the morning, we will drive to Pokhara by tourist bus. You will have scenic views of the landscape and mountains on the way. The 6-7 hours drive will take us to Pokhara. You can also fly to Pokhara which is 25 minutes flight.
Day 2. Pokhara to Sikles (1980m)
We will drive to KaunKhola, and from there we will take a jeep to Sikles Village. We will reach Sikles after a 4-hour drive and need to hike 15 minutes from there to reach Sikles. On this day you will explore the village and experience Gurung tradition and culture and stay overnight at Sikles.
Day 3. Sikles to Hugu (2026m)
We will hike the uphill trail for around 6-7 hours. There is a steep uphill in some of the places on the way to Hugu. You will stay in the tea house at Hugu.
Day 4. Hugu to Nho-Ta (3050m)
Today we will hike for around 5-6 hours to reach Nho-ta. We will make arrangements for meals and accommodation in the tent.
Day 5. Nho-Ta to Kori (3800m)
We will hike for 4-5 hours to Kori, availability of tea house is not available at Kori. We will make a self-arrangement for meals and accommodation in the tent.
Day 6. Explore Kori Hill hike back to Thulek (4110m)
On this day we hike a short uphill hike and explore Kori Hill. Kori Hill is also land for grazing sheep and you will witness stunning views of the Himalayas like Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, and Macchhapuchhre.
Day 7. Kori to Sikles (1980m)
We will hike downhill to Sikles around 7-8 hours hike we will reach Sikles Village and stay overnight at a tea house.
Day 8. Sikles to Pokhara and back to Kathmandu
Early in the morning after breakfast, we will drive back to Pokhara which is around a 3-4-hour drive. From Pokhara, you can get back to Kathmandu or you can explore the city.
