North Annapurna Base Camp trek is a newly established trek and less explored trek in the Annapurna Region. North Annapurna Base Camp trek where discovered by Maurice Herzog Trail. For those who are seeking adventures and alternate trails in Annapurna Region, this might be a good option. It lies in isolated and remote areas.
This trek was discovered in 2019 by Annapurna Rural Municipality. Trekking Agencies, the Annapurna Conservation Area, the Ministry of Tourism, and local people trying to promote this trek among trekking groups, travel agencies, and solo trekkers.
North Annapurna Base Camp provides a mesmerizing view of mountains like Annapurna I, Macchhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Himchuli, Annapurna South, Tilicho, Pisang, and Dhaulagiri. This trek is situated at an elevation of 4,190m south of Thorang La Pass and North of Annapurna Base Camp.

Best time to trek North Annapurna Base Camp
The best season for Kori Trek is September to November and March to May when the weather will be clear. During this season the skies will be clear and offer amazing views of the Himalayas. This trek is not recommended during monsoon season due to slippery roads which can be dangerous and the high risk of landslide.

You need to buy a Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card, the guiding company will arrange the card. It permits cost is around $25 for each person to enter this area.
North Annapurna Base Camp Itinerary
Day 1. Pokhara to Tatopani (1190m)
We start our journey from Pokhara which is 5 hour’s drive to Tatopani from Pokhara. On the way to Tatopani, you will be enjoying amazing views of the Himalayas, Rhododendron and lush forest, and many villages.
Day 2. Tatopani to Ghasa (2012m)
Early in the morning, we will start our trek to Ghasa. There is transportation available from Tatopani and Ghasa but it will be good to hike until you have limited time. On this day we will hike 5 to 6 hours and stay overnight at Ghasa.
Day 3. Ghasa to Lete (2438m)
We will hike for 6 hours to Lete, the village is surrounded by Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Nilgiri. There are public vehicles and private jeeps are available from Ghasa to Lete. We stay at the tea house at Lete and it is the last tea house, after Lete we will be camping.
Day 4: Lete to Thulo Bugin (3260m)
Today’s hike is a short distance up to 3 to 4 hours hike. We will be ascending to around 800m. We will be hiking from off beaten path and set up our camp after we reach Thulo Bugin.
Day 5. Thulo Bugin to Miristi Khola (4130m)
On this day before reaching Miristi Khola we are passing Thulo Bugin Pass at an elevation of 4400m and it will be our highest elevation on this entire journey. On this, we will hike 6 to hours by gaining altitudes. We will camp at Miristi Khola at an elevation of 4130m.
Day 6. Trek from Miristi Khola to North Annapurna Base Camp (4190m)
On this day after breakfast, we will head towards North Annapurna Base Camp the awaiting destination in this whole journey. Crossing Miristi Khola is difficult and so are the more winding roads.
We will be trekking through isolated places, after we reach base camp we will set up our camp and enjoy the beautiful sunset.
Day 7. North Annapurna Base Camp to hike back to Chhote Pa. (2455m)
Early in the, you will witness beautiful sunrise, peaking through snow-capped mountains. We will explore the near places at base camp and after breakfast, we will hike back to Chhote Pa. We will hike for 7 to 8 hours to reach Chhote Pa. On the entire trek reach to Chhote Pa is the easy and longest route.
Day 8. Chhote Pa to Tatopani (1190m)
After breakfast, we head back to Tatopani after a 6-7 hours hike ending our journey. We will stay in the guesthouse at Tatopani and visit the natural hot spring Tatopani.
Day 9. Tatopani to Pokhara
On this day we will head back to Pokhara ending the journey and thrilling experience and memories.
